L. Beale [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit23">23</xref>] писал, что ограничение потребления белка облегчает состояние больных с нарушенной функцией почек, а F. Volhard [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit154">154</xref>] указывал, что у больных с хронической почечной недостаточностью (ХПН) «возможно отсрочить» повышение концентрации мочевины в крови на длительный период времени, уменьшая потребление азота до 3-5 г/сут (20-30 г/сут белка). В ряде случаев ему удавалось, ограничивая потребление белка, снизить высокий уровень мочевины в крови, что сопровождалось исчезновением симптомов уремии. L. Ambard, известный своими работами в области физиологии и патофизиологии почек, в 1909 г. предложил определять «дебит мочевины» - произведение концентрации мочевины на диурез в соотношении к уровню мочевины в крови. В норме константа Ambard равнялась 0,07, а ее увеличение характеризовало степень нарушения функции почек.
