Впервые о возможности поражения почек при криоглобулинемии сообщил в 1966 году M. Meltzer и соавт. [19]. В последующие годы были опубликованы лишь отдельные наблюдения различных клинико-морфологических вариантов поражения почек при смешанной криоглобулинемии (СКГ). По классификации J.L. Вrouet 1974 года, которая не утратила своего значения и теперь, смешанные криоглобулины (КГ) состоят из иммуноглобулинов разных классов, чаще IgG и IgM со свойствами ревматоидного фактора (РФ) - моноклонального IgMκ (II тип) и поликлонального IgM (III тип). Несмотря на то, что вовлечение почек возможно и при III и при II типах СКГ, высокой нефритогенностью обладает II тип, что убедительно показано в эксперименте.
