При существующем в трансплантологии дефиците донорских органов становится все более оправданным применение органов от живых доноров. Кроме того, отдаленная выживаемость таких трансплантатов, особенно почечных, и качество жизни реципиентов значительно выше, чем при трансплантации от трупного донора. В этом обзоре на примере трансплантации почки от живого донора хотелось бы обратить внимание на необходимость взвешенного подхода к оценке преимуществ и риска такой операции. * Перевод И. Г . Ким
